Authenticated code execution via unchecked file parameter
Published Mar 9, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in UCMS 1.6 allows remote authenticated users to execute code by writing a PHP file through sadmin/fileedit.php. The handler uses the file parameter as a destination filename, opens that path for writing, and stores attacker-controlled content without enforcing the permitted suffix. Authenticated access to the system administration interface is required, after which a PHP web shell can execute code in the web server context.
