Modbus communication outage via signal-handler race
Published Apr 14, 2023 · Updated Feb 6, 2025
Signal handler race condition in GC-ENET-COM SN:16XXXXXXXXX allows remote attackers to interrupt Modbus TCP communication via UDP packets. A race between the interrupt service routine and extension-unit processing prevents Modbus requests from being handled during a crafted UDP packet flood. No authentication is required, but the unit must operate as a Modbus TCP Server; service remains unavailable until a power cycle or hot swap.
