CVE-2023-1243Network attack vector

Stored XSS via unsanitized site name

Published Mar 7, 2023 · Updated Mar 6, 2025

Stored XSS in Apache Answer before 1.0.6 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in another user's browser via a crafted site name. The InitBaseInfoReq SiteName field accepts site_name during installation without sanitizer validation, so markup persists and later renders. Installation-level access is required to store the value, and a separate user must view a page that renders the configured site name; the script can read or alter data available to that browser session.
