Administrator code execution via arbitrary-path password-file write
Published Jul 10, 2023 · Updated Nov 8, 2024
Arbitrary file write in Dimitar Ivanov HTTP Headers before 1.18.11 allows remote authenticated users to execute server-side code. The http_headers_pre_update_option path accepts administrator-controlled password-file locations and writes WWW-Authenticate credentials there without constraining the destination. Administrator access is required, and writing PHP into a web-served path yields code execution with the WordPress server's privileges.
