Authenticated arbitrary file read via unfiltered path
Published Mar 3, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Path traversal in mainfunction.cgi in DrayTek Vigor 2960 1.5.1.4 and 1.5.1.5 allows remote authenticated users to read files. The getSyslogFile action passes the unfiltered option parameter into file access, so ../ sequences escape the intended syslog path and select arbitrary files. A valid management-session cookie and network access to the web interface are required, and the demonstrated consequence is disclosure of router-resident files.
