CVE-2023-1108Network attack vector

Unauthenticated service interruption via TLS close loop

Published Sep 14, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Infinite loop in Undertow before 2.2.24 and 2.3.0 through 2.3.4 allows remote attackers to interrupt HTTPS service during closure. SslConduit.wrapAndFlip keeps calling SSLEngine.wrap while the handshake reports NEED_WRAP, even after the engine marks inbound processing complete. No authentication or user interaction is required; sustained looping consumes processing capacity and affects availability without reported data disclosure or modification.
