Authenticated script execution via stored food template
Published May 8, 2023 · Updated Jan 29, 2025
Stored cross-site scripting in Monica 4.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through a contact's food preference. The people/{id}/food endpoint stores the food parameter without validating template syntax, and the client renderer evaluates injected expressions as code. Another user must view the affected contact data; the script then runs in that user's session and can submit authenticated account changes.
