Stored XSS via unescaped Tools message
Published May 2, 2023 · Updated Jan 30, 2025
Stored XSS in Birmania SMTP Mailing Queue before 2.0.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts via the Tools Message setting. The Tools tab renders the stored Message value in a textarea without output escaping, so a closing textarea tag injects attacker-controlled markup. Administrator privileges and a victim visit to the affected admin page are required, and exposure is limited to sites where unfiltered_html is disabled, including multisite installations.
