Arbitrary plugin activation via nonce-free AJAX handler
Published Mar 27, 2023 · Updated Feb 19, 2025
CSRF in HasThemes WC Sales Notification before 1.2.3 allows remote attackers to activate installed plugins via a forged admin request. The wcsalesnotification_ajax_plugin_activation admin-AJAX action accepts a plugin location and activates it without verifying a CSRF nonce. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator to submit the attacker’s request, and its direct effect is enabling a plugin already present on the site.
