Stored XSS via unescaped consent shortcode attributes
Published Mar 27, 2023 · Updated Feb 18, 2025
Stored XSS in Complianz and Complianz Premium before 6.4.2 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through shortcode attributes. The cmplz-consent-area shortcode copies unvalidated and unescaped service and category values into generated markup and JavaScript. Contributor-level credentials and a Complianz configuration that renders the shortcode are required; the script runs when affected content is viewed or interacted with.
