Authenticated JavaScript execution via stored template injection
Published May 8, 2023 · Updated Jan 29, 2025
Stored client-side template injection in MonicaHQ 4.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through first_name. The settings endpoint stores first_name without adequate validation, and client-side rendering evaluates embedded template expressions instead of treating them as text. An account is required; the stored code runs in a viewer's browser and can use that session's CSRF token to change an email address or delete an account.
