CVE-2023-0973

Application crash via null pointer dereference

Published Mar 13, 2023 · Updated Jan 16, 2025

NULL pointer dereference in STEP Tools, Inc. IFC Mesher Library 18.1 allows local users to crash an application with a crafted IFC file. The IFC file-reading path dereferences a null pointer while processing malformed model data; public advisories do not identify the affected function. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and user interaction, and the denial of service is limited to termination of the consuming application.
