Administrator code execution via unchecked popup image upload
Published May 2, 2023 · Updated Jan 30, 2025
Unrestricted file upload in Zyrex POPUP through 1.0 allows remote authenticated users with Administrator access to execute PHP code. The popup creation form accepts a PHP file as an image without validating its type, stores it under wp-content/uploads/zyrex_popup, and serves it for execution. Administrator-level access is required; activating the popup runs the uploaded payload when the popup is displayed, enabling server-side code execution.
