Password disclosure via signed-only LDAP connections
Published Apr 3, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Cleartext transmission in Samba before 4.16.10, 4.17.7, and 4.18.1 allows attackers to obtain new or reset passwords. samba-tool permits password-setting operations over remote LDAP connections protected for integrity but not confidentiality because client ldap sasl wrapping defaults to sign. Exposure requires a Kerberos-protected remote LDAP operation and an attacker able to observe its traffic; NTLM-protected connections receive encryption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
