Private-post disclosure via unchecked bookmark authorization
Published Feb 19, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Improper authorization in Pixelfed before 0.11.4 allows remote authenticated users to access private posts through the bookmark endpoint. BookmarkController::store loads a requested status and creates a bookmark without checking its visibility or whether the requester follows its author. A valid account and a chosen private-post identifier are required; the resulting impact is limited to unauthorized disclosure of that post.
