System crash via unchecked communication buffer length
Published Feb 18, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Out-of-bounds access in Easy File Locker 2.2.0.184 allows local users to crash the system through the xlkfs.sys communication port. MessageNotifyCallback accepts an oversized value sent through FilterConnectCommunicationPort without validating the input-buffer length. Low-privileged local code execution is required, and successful exploitation produces a system crash and blue screen rather than a demonstrated confidentiality or integrity impact.
