Windows crash via unchecked IOCTL SystemBuffer
Published Feb 18, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Denial of service in Filseclab Twister Antivirus 8.17 allows local users to crash Windows through a crafted ffsmon.sys IOCTL request. The ffsmon.sys handler for IOCTL 0x220017 fails to validate the caller-controlled SystemBuffer before using it, producing a blue-screen crash. A normal local user who can open the driver device can interrupt the entire host; no confidentiality or integrity impact is reported.
