Subscriber-level post disclosure via unchecked shortcodes
Published Mar 20, 2023 · Updated Feb 26, 2025
Missing authorization in Shortcodes Ultimate before 5.12.8 allows remote authenticated users to read nonpublic WordPress posts. An authenticated admin-ajax.php request passes attacker-supplied su_post or su_posts attributes to the shortcode parser without checking whether the requester can access the selected posts. Subscriber access is sufficient to read draft, private, or password-protected content and disclose protected-post passwords.
