Cross-site scripting via protocol-relative payload URLs
Published Feb 17, 2023 · Updated Mar 18, 2025
Cross-site scripting in Nuxt before 3.2.1 allows remote attackers to execute script in a user's browser via a crafted payload URL. The _getPayloadURL function relied on a parsed-host comparison instead of rejecting protocol-relative input before constructing a payload script URL. Exploitation requires an application flow that supplies attacker-controlled routing input and a user who loads the resulting page, exposing browser-accessible data and actions.
