Arbitrary file installation via malformed import data
Published May 11, 2023 · Updated Jan 24, 2025
Improper input validation in Canon printer firmware 11.04 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to install arbitrary files. The Remote UI Setting Data Import function accepts an attacker-controlled file for installation without correctly validating its specified index, position, or offset. High-privilege access to the network-reachable printer portal is required, and the documented consequence is limited to unauthorized file installation.
