Unauthorized access via altered administrator registration settings
Published May 11, 2023 · Updated Jan 24, 2025
Incorrect user management in Canon printer firmware 11.04 and earlier allows remote attackers to gain unauthorized access over the local network. During initial system-administrator registration, the control-protocol handler unintentionally changes security settings rather than preserving the intended configuration. The target must be reachable on the same network segment during registration; Canon has not identified the protocol or affected settings publicly.
