Remote code execution via rls-login stack overflow
Published May 11, 2023 · Updated Feb 10, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in Canon printer firmware 11.04 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via rls-login requests. The rls-login handler copies user-supplied data into a fixed-length stack buffer without first validating its length. No authentication is required; access from the printer's network segment permits code execution as the service account or makes the device unresponsive.
