CVE-2023-0830Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated root command execution via backup parameters

Published Feb 14, 2023 · Updated May 1, 2025

OS command injection in EasyNAS 1.1.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands as root through its backup web interface. The backup.pl script inserts user-controlled name and vol parameters into a sudo tar command passed to Perl's system function without neutralizing shell metacharacters. Valid web credentials are required; a crafted backup request can expose, alter, or destroy appliance data.
