Process crash via undersized MPEG-2 TS date section
Published Feb 13, 2023 · Updated Mar 21, 2025
Heap-buffer over-read in GPAC before 2.3.0-DEV allows local users to crash MP4Box by opening a crafted MPEG-2 TS file. gf_m2ts_process_tdt_tot reads a five-byte UTC date from a TDT/TOT section without first verifying that the section contains five bytes. Processing requires user interaction; the public reproduction demonstrates an out-of-bounds read and process abort, not arbitrary code execution.
