CVE-2023-0818Public exploit

Local crash via out-of-bounds null termination

Published Feb 13, 2023 · Updated Mar 21, 2025

An off-by-one error in GPAC before 2.3.0-DEV allows local users to crash MP4Box by processing a crafted text-based media file. gf_text_get_utf8_line can advance the szLineConv index to the 2,048-byte array boundary while converting an input line, then writes a null terminator one byte out of bounds. A user must cause MP4Box to inspect the crafted file; the demonstrated consequence is a sanitizer-detected out-of-bounds write and process crash.
