CVE-2023-0800Public exploit

Process crash via unequal composite crop regions

Published Feb 13, 2023 · Updated Mar 21, 2025

Out-of-bounds write in LibTIFF tiffcrop 4.4.0 allows attackers to crash the utility by processing a crafted TIFF file. When composite crop regions have unequal lengths or widths, extractContigSamplesShifted16bits copies region data beyond the allocated output buffer. Exploitation requires tiffcrop to process the file with composite region-selection options; the demonstrated consequence is a process abort, not code execution.
