CVE-2023-0795Public exploit

Denial of service via crop rotation state corruption

Published Feb 13, 2023 · Updated Mar 21, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in LibTIFF tiffcrop 4.4.0 and earlier allows context-dependent attackers to crash the utility via a crafted TIFF file. While rotating separately exported crop regions, rotateImage swaps the shared image width and length instead of changing only the region dimensions, so later extraction calculates source offsets from corrupted geometry and reads beyond the input buffer. Exploitation requires tiffcrop to process attacker-controlled image data with the affected crop, export, and rotation options; the bounded consequence is a segmentation fault and utility termination.
