CVE-2023-0767

Arbitrary memory write via Safe Bag type confusion

Published Jun 2, 2023 · Updated May 5, 2025

Memory corruption in Mozilla Firefox before 110, Firefox ESR before 102.8, and Thunderbird before 102.8 allows attackers to write memory. The NSS sec_pkcs12_choose_safe_bag_type function applies SEC_AnyTemplate to a destination union that is not a SECItem, causing attacker-controlled data and length values to overwrite Safe Bag structure fields. Importing a crafted PKCS #12 certificate bundle is required; corrupted fields can crash the application and the underlying write is presumed exploitable.
