CVE-2023-0620

Arbitrary SQL execution via unsanitized storage parameters

Published Mar 30, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

SQL injection in the MSSQL storage backend in HashiCorp Vault and Vault Enterprise allows local users to execute arbitrary SQL commands. The backend passes configuration-supplied schema, database, and table values directly to MSSQL without sanitization, so injected SQL runs when configuration is applied. Exploitation requires highly privileged access to alter the Vault configuration or knowledge of the target database credentials, and the resulting commands run on the configured database server.
