Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode speed attribute
Published Mar 27, 2023 · Updated May 5, 2025
Stored XSS in WP Image Carousel 1.0.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through the wpic shortcode. The shortcode handler places the attacker-controlled speed attribute into generated JavaScript without sanitization or output escaping. Contributor access is sufficient; the stored script executes when another user visits the affected post or page, enabling browser-context actions as that visitor.
