Application takeover via unprotected credential file
Published Apr 6, 2023 · Updated Feb 10, 2025
Insecure credential storage in ABB MCS-OP 5.0 through 5.13 allows remote authenticated users to access protected application data. The User Interface, System Monitoring, and Asset Inventory services write confidential data to an unprotected file, allowing affected service identities to be impersonated. Low-privileged network access is required; successful impersonation exposes every application database granted to the affected service and permits application control.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
