Authenticated SQL injection via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Aug 16, 2023 · Updated Oct 8, 2024
SQL injection in YARPP before 5.30.3 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary SQL through a crafted shortcode attribute. The parse-media-shortcode AJAX action passes the yarpp shortcode recent attribute into a database query without validation or SQL escaping. A subscriber account and a valid reference post ID are required; the published proof of concept demonstrates a time-based query delay.
