Arbitrary plugin activation via missing CSRF nonce
Published Mar 27, 2023 · Updated Feb 19, 2025
CSRF in HT Politic before 2.3.8 allows remote attackers to activate arbitrary installed plugins through an administrator's session. The plugin_activation function processes wppolitic_ajax_plugin_activation requests without nonce validation and activates the plugin named by the location parameter. A logged-in administrator must be tricked into submitting the forged request, and only plugins already installed but inactive can be activated.
