Arbitrary plugin activation via missing CSRF check
Published Mar 27, 2023 · Updated Feb 19, 2025
Cross-site request forgery in WP Insurance before 2.1.4 allows remote attackers to activate installed plugins through an administrator's session. The wpinsurance_ajax_plugin_activation AJAX action trusts the attacker-controlled location parameter without verifying a CSRF nonce before activating the named plugin. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator's browser to send the crafted request, and the consequence is limited to activating a plugin already present on the site.
