Plugin activation via nonce-free AJAX action
Published Mar 27, 2023 · Updated Feb 14, 2025
Cross-site request forgery in DevItems HT Event before 1.4.6 allows remote attackers to activate installed plugins through an administrator. The htevent_ajax_plugin_activation AJAX action accepts an attacker-controlled location parameter and activates the named plugin without validating a CSRF nonce. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator to submit the crafted request, and the state change is limited to plugins already present on the WordPress site.
