Published Feb 21, 2023 · Updated Mar 12, 2025
IDOR in WP Private Message before 1.0.6 allows remote authenticated users to read other users' private messages via a modified message ID. The wp_private_message_choose_message AJAX action accepts a user-controlled message_id and returns message data without checking ownership. Any authenticated account with a valid nonce can retrieve a private message belonging to another user, while no write or service-interruption impact is reported.
