CVE-2023-0452Network attack vector

Privileged credential exposure via unauthenticated MD5 hash retrieval

Published Jan 26, 2023 · Updated Jan 16, 2025

Weak credential hashing in Econolite EOS before 3.2.23 allows remote attackers to retrieve privileged credential hashes without authentication. An unauthenticated configuration-file request returns MD5 hashes for administrator and technician credentials instead of adequately protecting them. Network access to the controller is sufficient, and recovered passwords grant access to privileged traffic-control accounts.
