Stored XSS via unescaped form name
Published Jul 17, 2023 · Updated Oct 30, 2024
Stored XSS in Basix NEX-Forms before 8.4.4 allows remote authenticated users to execute script through a crafted form name. The form-management path stores the attacker-controlled name without escaping it and renders the value in the plugin dashboard, where an event handler executes. Form creation normally requires an administrator or multisite Super Administrator, but a setting can grant the capability to lower-privileged roles; a dashboard visit by another user triggers the stored script.
