Stored XSS via unescaped quiz terminology settings
Published Feb 21, 2023 · Updated Mar 12, 2025
Stored XSS in Kiboko Labs Ltd. Watu Quiz before 3.3.8.2 allows remote authenticated users with administrator privileges to run script. The plugin stores a crafted value in the “Words used for quiz/quizzes” setting without sanitization and renders it again without sufficient escaping. Administrator privileges are required to save the payload, and revisiting the settings page executes it even when unfiltered_html is disabled.
