CVE-2023-0394

Local system crash via IPv6 length misaccounting

Published Jan 24, 2023 · Updated Mar 31, 2025

NULL pointer dereference in the Linux kernel before 6.2-rc4 allows local users to crash the system through crafted IPv6 raw-socket state. rawv6_push_pending_frames counts IPv6 extension-header bytes as queued payload, leaving csum_skb NULL before skb_transport_offset dereferences it. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and interrupts the host by triggering a kernel oops or system crash.
