Database extraction via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Feb 27, 2023 · Updated Mar 18, 2025
SQL injection in Modern Tribe GigPress 2.3.28 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to query the database via shortcode attributes. The gigpress_menu, gigpress_shows, and gigpress_related_shows handlers place the sort attribute into SQL without validation, escaping, or query preparation. Subscriber-level access to the authenticated parse-media-shortcode AJAX action is sufficient to trigger time-based queries and extract database contents.
