Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attribute
Published Jun 19, 2023 · Updated Dec 12, 2024
Stored XSS in Responsive Tabs For WPBakery Page Builder 1.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute script in visitors' browsers. The vca_tabs_parent shortcode outputs the vca_tabs_color_theme attribute into page markup without validation or escaping, leaving an injected event handler executable. Contributor-level access is required to save the crafted shortcode, and a visitor must interact with the resulting page to trigger the script.
