Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Mar 20, 2023 · Updated Feb 26, 2025
Stored cross-site scripting in React Webcam 1.2.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject script through shortcode attributes. The shortcode renderer outputs the dir attribute and other attacker-controlled attributes into page content without validation or contextual escaping. Contributor-level access is required to save the shortcode, and the stored script executes when another user views the affected page or post.
