Remote denial of service via IPv6 null dereference
Published Jul 10, 2023 · Updated Nov 12, 2024
Improper input validation in Zephyr RTOS 3.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to crash devices via a crafted IPv6 router advertisement. In handle_ra_input, the reachable_time update passes net_pkt_iface(pkt)->config.ip.ipv6 to net_if_ipv6_set_reachable_time without verifying that the interface pointer is non-null. An unauthenticated network peer must supply a qualifying router-advertisement reachable-time value; dereferencing the null pointer interrupts the affected device, with no reported confidentiality or integrity impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
