Server artifact scheduling via traversed client ID
Published Jan 18, 2023 · Updated Apr 3, 2025
Path traversal in Rapid7 Velociraptor before 0.6.7-5 allows remote authenticated users to schedule server artifact collections. CreateCollection uses the unsanitized client ID to choose the collection task path, so ../clients/server redirects a client task into the server namespace. An investigator account with COLLECT_CLIENT permission and GUI/API access can thereby perform a collection normally restricted to administrators with COLLECT_SERVER.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
