Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attribute
Published Feb 13, 2023 · Updated Mar 21, 2025
Stored XSS in Easy Accept Payments via PayPal before 4.9.10 allows remote authenticated users to inject script through a shortcode. The wp_paypal_payment_box_for_any_amount shortcode places its cbt attribute into page output without validating or escaping the value. A Contributor can save the crafted shortcode, but execution requires a visitor to view the rendered page and invoke the injected access key.
