Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published May 8, 2023 · Updated Jan 28, 2025
Stored XSS in Mega Addons For WPBakery Page Builder before 4.3.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute script via crafted shortcodes. The vc_testimonial shortcode returns its link attribute to page output without validating or escaping attacker-controlled quote and event-handler syntax. Contributor access is required to store the payload, and a victim must view or interact with the affected page for the browser to run it in the site's origin.
