Subscriber-level SQL injection via crafted shortcode
Published Feb 13, 2023 · Updated Mar 21, 2025
SQL injection in WP Review Slider before 12.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary SQL through a crafted shortcode. The parse-media-shortcode AJAX action passes the wprevpro_usetemplate shortcode's attacker-controlled tid value into a database statement without adequate sanitization or escaping. Subscriber access is sufficient; the published proof of concept demonstrates a time-based query, while database reads and writes depend on database privileges.
