Privilege escalation via untrusted pointer dereference
Published Apr 1, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Untrusted pointer dereference in NVIDIA vGPU Software Graphics Driver 15.1 and earlier for Linux allows local users to escalate privileges. The kernel-mode layer handler dereferences a pointer obtained from an untrusted source, but NVIDIA has not disclosed the handler name or input path. Low-privileged local access is required; successful exploitation also enables code execution, data disclosure or tampering, or service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
