CVE-2023-0171Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes

Published Feb 6, 2023 · Updated Mar 25, 2025

Stored XSS in jQuery T(-) Countdown Widget before 2.3.24 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through shortcode attributes. The tminus shortcode returns its width attribute to generated page markup without validation or output escaping, so a crafted value adds an event-handler script. Contributor-level access is required to save the shortcode, and the script executes when another user moves the pointer over the injected element.
